Honorable Mention: Fanboys
The first “mainstream” movie about SW fandom is due to hit screens this spring. It looks like it could be funny and entertaining but I also have my caveats. Besides that, this movie has been delayed several times already. We’ll see if it actually comes out in ‘08 or if it remains on the shelf.
10. A Big Surprise
Isn’t there always some big surprise out of left field from Lucasfilm? It could be a SW saga box set in high-def/Blue-Ray. It could be the SW saga available for download on iTunes. It could be a set release date for the saga in 3D. Who knows?
9. Family Guy BH DVD/TESB special
The Family Guy SW spoof is due out on a special edition DVD in January and a TESB spoof is on its way this fall. It looks like FG has figured out a way to remain on the air another five seasons ;).
8. SW on Spike TV
ROTS will have its free t.v. debut on cable’s Spike TV this April and the network will also have the rights to broadcast the remaining five SW films. This means SW movie marathons in between wrestling, showings of “Road House,” and James Bond marathons.
7. SW Vector
The first multi-title SW comics tie-in that will intertwine several time periods. Let’s see how they pull it off.
6. End of Republic Commando
Karen Traviss brings her tale of commando love to an end. Originally it was called "Order 66," but it looks like it has been re-titled "Odds." Unless that's another book!
5. End of “Legacy of the Force”
Who will live? Who will die? Can Jacen come back from the Dark Side?
4. The Force Unleashed
The biggest “multimedia” push since 1996’s Shadows of the Empire. Plus there’s a rumor the Secret Apprentice character may appear in the live t.v. show.
3. Live action t.v. production
Writers’ strike be damned, we’re likely to find out the cast of the new series and filming is likely to begin sometime this year.
2. Indy IV
Be there May 22 or be square!
1. Clone Wars
Mark my words, this show will be a milestone in how t.v. animation is done and it will kick all kinds of butt.
Non-SW things I'm looking forward to: American Idol Season 7, Lost Season 4, Jumper, The Dark Knight, X-Files, Prince Caspian, Wall-E, the end of the WGA strike, and of course Comic Con 2008.
