It's impossible to find anything on starwars.com these days (but I do appreciate the SWPAS shoutout), so it wasn't until now that I saw on Twitter via @LightsaberRattling that they posted not only more stuff about Maul's Clone Wars debut and the TPM 3D trailer, they also posted the re-release poster:

Maybe it's a teaser, maybe it isn't. It's too bad Drew Struzan retired; I loved the stuff he did for the Special Editions in 1997. My only quibble is that um, there's no Quiggy, no Amidala, and no Anakin. Definitely no Jar Jar.

An Episode I poster without baby!Anakin? I'm...uhm...it's slightly disappointing, IMO.

Well, they do have Anakin's podracer, at least, but... yeah, the original TPM teaser poster was much more epic.

Yeah, the original TPM poster is iconic. I have one myself, taken from a friendly theater owner, hanging in a frame. This, I'm not really a fan of, but whatever.

No Qui-Gon? For shame.

I find the idea of Maul in Clone Wars a bit... leery? I like his character arc. And he got sliced in half, for goodness sake! What are people going to do, clone him? Give him robot legs like in the comic??

It does sort of have a "we're just including the characters the usual suspects complain the least about" feel to me; on the other hand, they're at least promoting the new computer-animated Yoda.

So far as the whole "Darth Maul returning" question goes, I have some ideas of how it might be done, but perhaps a bit of caution about thinking too much about it for fear I'll disagree with what's actually there. I suppose, though, that the "cybernetic legs" I did happen to see in one of the very few Star Wars comics I've looked at of late would be kind of "ridiculous fun" to me.

Yuck. I hate photoshop posters. It's bad enough that they do it with a lot of books now (particularly with SW and ST) but with movie posters its even worse. It's uncreative. I understand Drew Struzan retired but there has to be someone else out there who still draws movie posters.

The first thing that came to mind when I saw the poster was wondering where Qui-Gon, Padmé and Anakin are. And why is Darth Maul so big on the poster? I understand he is iconic, but having being the focus of the poster is somewhat odd.

a thought on why perhaps Darth Maul and the podracers are so prominently displayed on the new poster... things that will look awesome in 3-D: the podrace and the duel. they are hyping up the action side of the movie in this poster because really... what is 3-D for?
