Celebration IV: lazypadawan is worried

Convention passes were mailed out late and it seems attendees started getting them on Friday or Saturday, with more arriving today. Of course it was no dice in my mailbox. Grrr. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to who got passes already. Fans on the East Coast (GenCon LLP is based in Seattle) and fans who bought their passes recently have already received them. Someone on TFN suggested they were mailed out alphabetically but that got shot down by fans whose last names begin with the latter part of the alphabet receiving theirs today.

Worse yet, several fan club members are reporting their package did not come with lanyards or the family/friends passes. Something similar happened to me five years ago for Celebration II, meaning I had to waste time picking up a lanyard at the convention. The story is GenCon got an outdated fan club membership list from Lucasfilm and has requested an updated one.

I bought my pass a few minutes after they went on sale in October and I'm renewed through June 2008; my renewal automatically kicked in back in February. What's the holdup?

I got an e-mail last week to contact GenCon if my pass and lanyard don't arrive by next Monday. If the Emperor is less forgiving than Vader then I make Palpatine look like a bleeding heart. I am not going to be cheated out of the fan club day by spending it in a @#$@#$ will call line when they're taking money from me.

Why can't LFL get with the program? They've had three Celebrations to work out the kinks (not that I consider inexperience to be a terribly good excuse), and they're still making such massive screwups?

Part of it is Lucasfilm's fault but based on experience, GenCon would have trouble putting on a bar mitzvah. This isn't like herding 20,000 gamers to sit around tables all weekend, which is what GenCon does.

I hope your badge& passes comes soon.

When I first saw the email that Gencon sent last week, I went ahead and wrote a couple of emails asking them why my account said "will call" when I didn't choose that.
My passes came in the mail today. I am not sure if my emails had anything to do with this but it is worth the try.

Has any of your friends who live in Calif. received their badges?

Good Luck!

I'm considering e-mailing them if it doesn't arrive in completed form tomorrow. Yes, some local fans got their stuff today.

I feel bad for all the fan club members who didn't get their stuff, or their orders are screwed up. As I've mentioned before, I'm a complete convention newbie. I was one of the fortunate ones who got all of my stuff yesterday without a problem, hitch, or snag. Hope it all works out LP. Also, I would like to meet you if at all possible, just to say "hi." My husband and sons didn't want to do the marathon and have only consented to go to the convention with me on Friday. I plan to be there Thursday through Sunday, and will decide later about Monday.

I'll be there Thurs.-Mon. morning. We'll have to find a way to say howdy!
