OT: Golden Globules Scrapped!!

Even though like you, I'm not happy the WGA strike has sidelined many a favorite show, but even the darkest cloud has a silver lining:

That's right. No couture-clad starlets on the red carpet. No drunken celebrities staggering onto the stage. No impromptu political speeches. No orgy of self-congratulation. No gift baskets. Best of all, no free promotion for lame, boring movies nobody watches anyway.

Bwahahahaha!

Keep it up, WGA! Shut down the Oscars too! Keep reachin' for that rainbow ;).

Woo-Hoo!

I am so amused.

Now let's go for the Oscars :)

I'm happy that we get to see the stars appear at the Beverly Hilton. I wouldn't want to miss my fashion show. On the other hand, I won't miss the actual ceremony. Besides, I haven't watched the complete show in two or three years.

This new format is a nice substitute. Maybe they'll do the same for the Oscars.

Figures the peacocks will find a way to snag themselves some publicity regardless. Maybe they could march the WGA picket line in their gowns and jewels :P.

Colbert is back on, thats the only show i really care about.
The strike is getting pretty ridicules but my sympathies are with the writers.

I haven't watched an awards ceremony in eons.

For the most part, they are a waste of time. However, I will say that, occasionally, they can be useful -- like when Bonnie Raitt, after years of toiling in obscurity, finally got her due after "Nick of Time" swept the Grammys, or when the Golden Globe for Best TV Drama single-handedly transformed "X-Files" from a cult favorite to a mainstream hit.
