Indiana Jones To The World: I'll Sleep When I'm Dead!

First Shia LeBeouf spills the beans yesterday, now Frank Marshall confirms it today with EmpireOnline: they are working on an Indy V script right as we speak. No word on when they hope to have this thing done but they better not take another 19 years! We have a Grampy Jones as it is :O.

Who should be Indy's next nemesis, besides time? We've already done Russkies and space aliens. In the Making of Indiana Jones book, one idea George Lucas toyed with repeatedly but never used was the idea of a haunted house and having Indy play ghostbuster. With the popularity of all things paranormal these days, why not go for it? Maybe he can battle vampires or something. Everybody likes vampires. What do you all think?

I've been thinking a bit about another take on "1950s sci-fi" myself, although my thoughts were running a bit more like "after flying saucers, what else did movies feature then... giant monsters!" The problem is that I'm aware that Steven Spielberg was resistant to do "aliens again," and he might be just as resistant to do "dinosaurs again..."

Another unused idea in "The Making of Indiana Jones" was the "Monkey King" legend. I suppose, though, that I usually try not to speculate too much, the better to not wind up judging against those airy speculations...

They already have a LucasArts videogame based on the Monkey King, don't they?

I'm not completely familiar with the Indiana Jones videogames, but for some reason my automatic reaction to your question was to think of the "Monkey Island" adventure games... which are not based on the legend, so far as I know. "The Monkey King" has a connection with China, and "Monkey Island" involves pirates, ghosts, and zombies...

I knew it was Monkey Something.
