This morning I made a final visit to the gorgeous architectural wonder that is the National Cathedral in D.C. (for those of you unfamiliar with it, it's where they held President Reagan's Washington funeral service). It's every bit as cool as any gothic cathedral in Europe, I've seen some impressive ones there. Anyway, I had to bid farewell to the famed Darth Vader gargoyle and in the gift shop I picked up a postcard booklet featuring the gargoyle. (I adore gargoyles.) Among the books there--mostly about Christianity--I spotted one entitled "Faith Journey Through Fantasy Lands: A Christian Dialogue With Harry Potter, Star Wars, and The Lord of the Rings." Well, you know I couldn't pass that up. So I'll let you know what I think when I'm done with it; I have several other books to read first.
Then I went to lunch and then to Dave & Busters (a chain of arcades) with my closest SW friends. We had a great time but I knew it would be the last time I would see them before leaving town and I won't see them again until April for Celebration III. It's always the toughest part of moving. Not the most stressful, but the saddest. They are two of the most sane people I've met in this wacky fandom and the truest friends you'll ever find. Sniff, sniff. I'll really miss them.
