In My Hot Little Hands
Nov. 1st, 2005 09:30 pmI got up early this morning to squeeze in enough time to drop by Wal Mart to pick up the ROTS DVD.  I got there about 7:20 or so and already saw a couple of people trickling out with tell-tale double DVDs in their bags.  The store wasn't crowded or anything and many of the shoppers looked like they were moms getting some shopping done after dropping off the kiddies at school.
I expected a nice big display at the entry, but nooooo, I had to walk to the electronics department way in the back to find the DVDs. I found a Widescreen edition (Fullscreen is the invention of the devil) packaged with the bonus "Story of Star Wars" DVD, and after staring at it for five minutes to make sure I was getting Widescreen, I decided to also buy one of those exclusive action figure sets. Naturally, I bought the one with Anakin, Obi, and Mace, though the clonetrooper set is pretty sharp. Great for army building and dioramas if you're into that sort of thing. The Anakin figure has a pretty good sculpt, though he's holding up a fist for some reason. What, is Ani expressing his support for black power? Flexing a bicep?
During lunch, I drove out to Target to find the exclusive Best of SW music CD. I looked at every SW display they had to no avail. It seemed to be nowhere to be found. I asked a floor manager where it was and he showed me…it comes packaged with the ROTS soundtrack! Which I bought back in May!! Aaaagh! God, that was disappointing on two levels…one, the CD wasn't sold separately and two, had I waited until now to buy the soundtrack I would've had the bonus CD AND the fabulous music video DVD. Tarnation! However, I bought one of the bath sets, the one with the Yoda bubble bath and the Anakin keychain. If anyone knows if the Star Wait DVD is worth buying, let me know. Target had it (another exclusive) for five bucks, which chronicles the antics of fans camping out at L.A.'s Chinese Theater for both AOTC and ROTS.
I'll watch the bonus features before watching the movie again, so I'll let you know what I think about them over the next few days.
USA Today had this interesting top 5 moments in the saga:

And someone on the Anakin Skywalker Homepage dug up this piece on how the Jedi Council screwed Anakin over and how this could be a good analogy on what churches shouldn't do to its younger followers. It makes a lot of great arguments from a Christian perspective:
