It's that time again…usually I don't start commenting on AI until there's a manageable number of people left.  Last night was the girls and tonight's the dudes.  The boys, if you ask me, have the advantage this year.  They're much better singers overall and much more interesting personalities.  There are some good singers among the girls but I have to wonder how they'll last once they don't have the option of performing stuff in their comfort zone.  And so few have any memorable personality, maybe except for the big girl Mandisa.  You need personality to keep the folks dialing in for you.  So far, I predict Kennik is history.  The other girl to bid auf Wiedersehen will be either Melissa or Ayla.

Speaking of which, here's my take on my recent obsession, Project Runway (on Bravo).  I missed the first season and started watching the current season in January.  The concept is a bunch of aspiring fashion designers are assigned challenges each week and they put the frocks on display with real models strutting on a mini catwalk.  The pieces are judged by hostess Heidi Klum, an editor from Elle magazine, a guest judge, and designer Michael Kors.  Then they, along with the show's producers, decide who's "in" and which unfortunate soul is "out."  Heidi then bids the loser "auf Wiedersehen" and gives him or her some Eurokisses before leaving.  The last three standing then have to design an entire line for New York's Fashion Week.  Tonight is the final episode.  The last three consist of Chloe, a gal from Houston with her own shop and who spent part of her childhood in a Southeast Asian prison camp, Santino, who annoys and antagonizes his fellow contestants and comes up with oddball creations, and Daniel, a cute (but sadly, gay) recent college graduate. I'm pulling for Chloe or Daniel.   Both are very talented and seem to know something about wearability, even if they are occasionally chastised for being boring.  Santino has been kept around purely for the entertainment value of both his personality and his wacky clothes.  (He wisely figured out that on this show, it's better to make something that sucks than to make something they find dull.)  I'd be greatly annoyed if he wins, particularly since most of his stuff wouldn't sell in real life.  And that's what it takes to survive in that business.  People have to want to buy your clothes.  Tune in at 10 to see who wins it all!

Update: Well, I'll be darned, what a coincidence:
