The things I do for my fandom II

I was trying to catch up on stuff that piled up at work while I was out when 10 a.m. PST rolled around and it was time to go online to order the Leia in Boushh disguise doll from Sideshow. When I ordered Jedi Anakin in December and Sith Anakin in May (for someone else), I had no trouble at all. This time, the site went to hell in a handbasket. You couldn't load it; there was too much traffic. I used my cell phone to call the 1-800 number while on break. I got busy signals over and over. It was like trying to buy U2 concert tickets over the phone circa 1992! It was so frustrating, I started planning the hate mail I was going to send to Sideshow. You see, this is their first female SW 12" and I was worried that it was going to be hellaciously difficult with any Leia or Padmé or other chick character to come down the pike. This was after pleading with a Sideshow rep at Comic Con last year to not forget the chick characters! (They chose not to do inclusive ordering with Leia.) After a while I said to hell with it because I had to quickly fill out a form for a bunch of subpoenas and couldn't spend all of my time on this nonsense. A half hour later, I got onto Sideshow's site with no trouble and quickly snagged an exclusive edition. Yay!

Lucasfilm is going to send Chewie, Vader, and Wicket on tour to promote the release of the DVDs and two videogames on Sept. 12, and their last stop is here in San Diego. Right at my house! Heh heh, sure ;).
