Joseph Barbera, half of a cartoon empire with the late Bill Hanna, died today at age 95. Those of us who watched Tom & Jerry, Yogi the Bear, The Flintstones, Jonny Quest, etc. are indebted for hours of entertainment and unforgettable characters. Also, Rocky and Bullwinkle writer Chris Hayward died today at 81.

RIP...the cartoons in heaven just got that much better.

Today at lunch I blew by Target…lo and behold, there was the Leia/Vader Galactic Heroes set I'd been looking for. Yay! No more toys for at least a while. *Happy dance.* Target also had these new t-shirts in the juniors/young person's dept. (where I'll shop as long I can get away with it, heh heh) with Mucha-esque prints on them. The shirts were pretty cool for $9.99 and I picked one with a vaguely Padme-esque picture on it. The gift card I got at work as a little Xmas pressie took care of it all.

And after buying Code 3's 100 lb. "3D" replica of the ROTS poster from BestBuy.com for a mere $19.95, I see today on Rebelscum that the price has been knocked down three bucks. D'oh! For $16.95 though, you can own a nice high-end piece. Code 3's stuff is expensive, so I'd take advantage if I were you.

starwars.com posted Variety.com's report on the seven flicks in the running for a visual effects Oscar nomination (only three films will make the final cut, apparently learning nothing from last year): POTC2 (duh), Casino Royale, Eragon, A Night At The Museum, X-Men 3, Poseidon, and Superman Returns (duh). I think POTC2 and Superman Returns are the shoo-ins, but what do I know?
