Why wait until Christmas for that Ecko stuff to come out? There are new shirts and such in stores right now!

We were unshackled from work at noon today, so I went to a downtown mall to loiter for a while. After buying more stuff at Steve & Barry's (curse you, Sarah Jessica Parker!), I walked past the lone Suncoast still open in my vicinity. I checked to see if any new SW stuff was in there and I spotted a men's shirt with the Hong Kong ANH poster on it (similar to the Junk Food one I bought at CIV) and a new clonetrooper/stormtrooper t-shirt with the caption "Soldiers Are Not Born, They're Made" or something like that. Then over at Hot Topic, I saw some of the Junk Food shirts they had at CIV for both men and women, including a Boba Fett one and a Chewbacca camo print shirt. There's a cartoony Vader shirt for the gals too.

Anyway, I noticed in the display case a packaged set that included a button, a couple of stickers, and a 30th anniversary plastic keychain for $5.99. They also had SW belt buckles, which I think I'd also seen at CIV. (This led to a conversation with a Hot Topic employee about Celebration.) Anyway, I got the $5.99 set of stuff and an Alliance logo belt buckle for $22.99. Now where do I find a belt?

After spending the past month or so thinking about how to go about this, I've come to one realization...it's got to be really good. That will take time, money, and talent. Money isn't *too* much of an issue because I'm not going to put up TFN the Second right out of the box. In fact, I'll get to in a minute the model for the "society's" main site. Time is do-able...I don't have to worry about reporting spoilers 24/7. The site's focus will be on the movies themselves too, not on everything every connected star or crew member is doing now. Talent is however, the main issue. I don't know anything about web design. HTML is close to a foreign language. I don't have Photoshop or a scanner. I don't know how to archive old material. All of that stuff is necessary IMO for the site to look professional and attractive.

Here's the idea...I have a main site that's pretty much a blog, such as http://www.clubjade.net. Then I have separate from that a community site, like a MySpace page. (I'm not doing Yahell!Groups.) I've given a lot of thought to keeping riff raff off of the main site. One is to require registration to post but I wonder if there's a way to limit registration to "members" on top of that.

Okay, back to thinking.
