I hear they're going to start shooting the second X-Files movie next month. Hope they have the script done ;)! I also hope they do their best to ignore most of seasons 8 and 9. Please bring the Lone Gunmen back from the dead and ignore the way the whole Samantha thing was resolved. Yes, bring back Krycek and the Cigarette Smoking Man. Bring back Skinner. It's okay if they keep Scully's baby William that was probably Mulder's via turkey baster, but easy on the MSR. Heh heh.

Nevertheless, it'll be cool to have Indiana Jones, X-Files, and Batman next summer in the theaters!

Speaking of summer movies, I got around to watching Transformers a couple of weeks ago and Spiderman 3 this weekend. Transformers isn't anything brilliant as a film but the effects are pretty good and it is fairly entertaining. Spiderman 3 on the other hand...what were they thinking? Sure some parts of it were funny--I'll never understand why Bruce Campbell isn't a bigger comedic star--but it was too long, had too much stuff going on, had some really fake-looking effects, and it was often just plain dumb. You can tell Peter Parker is eeville when he flips his hair down like Peter in season one of Heroes. The schmaltzy teary scenes were silly enough but the musical number...yikes. Spoiler )

I found the SW 2008 desk calendar today at the mall. But the other art of SW calendar and the mini calendar still elude me.

My poor iPod Photo is in a coma and unlikely to recover. I should've known it was sick when I tried to sync it with my iTunes last week and it didn't pick up everything I'd just downloaded onto iTunes. But I thought maybe it was something wrong with the way I loaded the CD onto iTunes and shrugged it off. Then on Saturday I tried syncing the iPod again. The iPod didn't show up on my desktop or on iTunes. I kept seeing the "do not disconnect" symbol on the iPod but nothing was happening. Sadly, I had to disconnect it from the computer. I figured I would probably have to wipe the memory on the iPod and reload everything anyway, but when I tried to follow the troubleshooting instructions online, it didn't work. I knew when I saw the sad iPod icon on the player's screen that it was a harddrive problem. The prognosis wasn't going to be good.

I took it today to the Apple store and the Genius Bar guy basically told me the harddrive was totally jacked. I had three options: pay $200 to have it fixed through Apple, pay at least $100 in parts alone to have a third party repair it, or get a new one and use the old iPod to trade in for recycling purposes. If I did the latter, I'll get 10% off.

So I've decided that for the time being I'll go back to using my 2001 model, which I still have, and save up some money to buy a new one. I'll recycle the broken iPod AND use my county employee discount. I could get the Nano but that new iPod Touch looks really sweet...

I go back a long way with Duran Duran. When I saw the video for "Hungry Like The Wolf" on some t.v. show back in 1982, it looked to me it was inspired by Raiders of the Lost Ark. It didn't hurt the guys--especially that dreamy John Taylor--were hot too. Thus, a teenage obsession was born.

I've known for a long time they are sf fans, particularly Nick. So I'm not at all surprised he chats up his love for SW on starwars.com:
