Sorta OT: Major Cheese
Jan. 8th, 2008 10:07 pmWho here remembers the Saturday morning show Thundarr The Barbarian? I was channel surfing and found it on Cartoon Network's Boomerang. I used to watch this as a weejun and I'd forgotten how to some degree it was a SW ripoff. It starred a big beefy blond guy with a Dutch boy haircut who wielded a lightsaber-like "sun sword" and he hung out with a Wookiee type guy named Ookla who only grr-ed and growled and a chick named Princess Ariel.
The show's premise was that a cataclysm in 1994 (heh!) screwed up the Earth and destroyed civilization. A few thousand years later, "sorcery and superscience" rule the world as Thundarr and Co. ride around fighting the forces of eeeville.
The lines could be used to make nachos: "Lords of light, a woman!" Or "Now, Amazon, talk! Where is the secret weapon?!" And they complain about the dialogue in SW.
