Tribute to the DCSWCC!
Sep. 3rd, 2008 08:45 pmI saw on TFN and Rebelscum that the D.C. (Metro) Star Wars Collectors Club has just celebrated its fifth anniversary!
I'm one of the original members of the club and was at the first meeting in a library basement in McLean, VA. I was the only chick there, too! The club grew a lot under Mike Kurtz's great leadership, even within the 9 or 10 months I was active with the group, and now boasts around 110 members. They participate in fan events both locally and around the country and does lots of charity work. One thing I liked about DCSWCC is its ability to partner up with other local SW fan groups, including the 501st, Dented Helmet, Rebel Legion, Fan Force D.C., and the R2DC droid builders' club. I still miss them. Though they can keep the snow and ice ;).
