Star Wars Stars' Star Power
Feb. 10th, 2009 06:28 pmLists are lazy journalism but everybody loves them anyway. Forbes magazine in particular is nuts about lists and its latest invention is the StarCurrency list. I'm not entirely sure what it's good for but according to MSN.com, casting somebody higher on the list increases the likelihood the film will be made. It seems to take into account a star's box office track record but some people on its top 10 haven't had a hit in years or don't seem to bring the b.o. magic on their own. Other actors who are very consistent in their ability to score hits are ranked lower...personally, I was very surprised Samuel L. Jackson wasn't in the top 20. The guy has done his share of stinkers but his overall career-long box office take has surpassed the previous record-holder, Harrison Ford. Yet people like Vince Vaughan and Matthew McConaughey rank far ahead of him. Oh well.
Who is the highest ranked SW alum according to this list? *Drum roll.* Harrison Ford, at #26. (His KOTCS co-star Shia LeBoeuf clocks in at #33.) The rest:
Keira Knightley #42
Natalie Portman #84
Samuel L. Jackson #89
Ewan McGregor #105
Hayden Christensen #238
Jimmy Smits #412
Keisha Castle-Hughes #900
Note that there were over 1300 people listed. My browser didn't like the last couple of pages in the posting, so I have no idea who else is on there. If you feel like perusing over the whole thing, the list is here:
