Clone Wars Screwed By Emmys Again
Jul. 14th, 2011 06:50 pmRepost from SWPAS:
The Emmys (t.v.’s answer to the Oscars) revealed their nominations today and Clone Wars did not get a single nomination. I guess they felt that because they nominated the third Robot Chicken Star Wars special for Outstanding Animated Program, that was enough for the Lucas quota.
Why does this happen year after year? Maybe it’s partially because the microseries from 2003-2005 won before but I think the real issue is this:
Clone Wars isn’t sexy or edgy.
I joked on my Twitter that maybe if Clone Wars was on HBO and it was packed with f-bombs, boobs, gore, and sex, it would win everything. But I think there’s some truth to that. All of the other animated shows are the likes of Family Guy, spinoff The Cleveland Show, South Park, and Robot Chicken, which are full of PG-13 to R-rated material. The short format category features a bunch of hipster favorites like Adventure Time and perennial SpongeBob.
Stuff like this ticks me off because I honestly think Clone Wars is one of the best scripted shows on t.v.. But because it’s not hip enough for Hollywood, it gets ignored and the talents behind the show go unappreciated by their peers.
