I'll defer to you completely on the fashion front :P , but one name that's also been showing up in some of those "Potential SW directors" articles is Ben Affleck--and after seeing "Argo" today, my wife and I both, almost simultaneously, said "Ben Affleck should direct one of the Star Wars sequels". Not only did the whole movie feel taut throughout, but there was humor in it that felt low-key, natural, and situation-appropriate. There was also a "documentary"-feel to some of it (not just because of the use of actual Hostage Crisis-era footage) that reminded me a little bit of ANH and TPM. Affleck seems like a serious and capable guy who would give the material the respect it deserves without getting bogged down by being TOO reverential. Several times during the movie, I felt like I could almost hear Lucas' famous "faster, more intense" direction to the actors.
Doesn't it feel like they should actually start filming next year? TPM started filming in 1997 for a 1999 release, AOTC started filming in 2000 for a 2002 release, and ROTS was 2003/2005...I wouldn't be surprised if within a month or two of the deal being approved in January, Disney/LFL announced a director.
