I'm not quite sure if we should look back to the old Marvel Star Wars comics and expect hypothetical new comics published by them to be "just like the old days"... although, given that nowadays Marvel just concentrates on "its own characters" and leaves "licensed properties" to other comic book publishers, I can see your point about wondering about what might happen if they were told to take on a license.
My own problem when it comes to this matter, I suppose, is that the Star Wars comics are just one more "non-animated spinoff I'm not paying attention to nowadays." I had, though, been thinking a bit of going back to the reprint books (published by Dark Horse, of course) of the old Marvel Star Wars comics...
