Last night I watched the t.v. spots, trailers, and production stills. These are fantastic! You have to check them out. One thing is for certain, trailers have come a long way since the late 1970s/early 1980s. I've seen some of these before on bootleg video, so it was nice to get them legally on DVD. There's a campy charm to those old trailers and t.v. ads. I almost want to see one for ROTS done retro-style. One of the TESB voice-overs sounds like it was done by Harrison Ford. Am I nuts?
Hands down, the funniest t.v. ad was the Luke/Leia romantic angle ad for ANH. Mwahahaha. The very first ANH trailer is a hoot too.
Some of the production stills have turned up on starwars.com's Photoreceptor but there are a lot I have not seen before. Whoever selected these photos must have a huge crush on Princess Leia/Carrie Fisher because she is all over the place. Still the ladies can admire Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford. Harrison in a torn wife-beater on the set of TESB? Check! Shirtless Harrison catching some rays on the Yuma, AZ set for ROTJ? Check! ::Dies::
There are some funny shots too. For instance, an unused still from TESB where the gang is sitting atop what looks like those carts you drive around the airport. Leia kissing Chewie. Leia kissing a Gamorrean guard. Factoids about Carrie standing on lifts whenever she had to do a scene with Harrison. Leia in a romantic pose with Luke (!) along with the caption, "The Jedi Code would definitely forbid this!" Or somesuch. Attachment is forbidden. Possession is forbidden. Incest is most certainly forbidden!
I'll watch ROTJ tonight.
My new Insider showed up, featuring a full-page shot of our favorite tragic couple, the same one posted on Hyperspace a few days ago. Rick McCallum said in the accompanying article there was a new A/P scene shot for the film that's about their love. Apparently, Anakin's chit-chat with Yoda is on sort of the same issue. Hmmm.
