The media is going to be obsessed with the unfortunate demise of Anna Nicole Smith for a while.

Whether it was an accidental overdose of drugs (Smith always seemed to be on the happy pills), a suicide due to her depression over her son's overdose death, or foul play (that sleazy lawyer guy is real suspicious if you ask me), it ought to not be a surprise. It's hard to enjoy fame one earned for no particularly good reason and money one did not genuinely earn--Trimspa, t.v., and Playboy aside. It's especially hard when you have leeches hanging on to you and bringing you down. In this case, one leech might have been dangerous to boot. Smith thought she was on easy street when she landed that rich old geezer but in the end, others took advantage of her. Now a small infant has no mother and her paternity is in question. It's really a shame.

If Diane Sawyer wanted to know what was on "President" Assad of Syria's iPod (*eyeroll*), why can't we speculate on what a bunch of fictitious characters would have on theirs if they had access to Earthling music?

Here are my guesses:

Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious

Murderous dictators tend to like Frank Sinatra and Whitney Houston for some reason, so I don't see why Palpie would be any different. He'd consider "My Way" his theme song and "The Greatest Love Of All" would probably bring a tear to his creepy glowing yellowish eye.

Darth Maul

Slayer.

Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus

I see him as big music snob, to the point of being pompous. I think he'd favor the more obscure works by 19th century composers, the more bombastic the better. And I think he'd LOVE Richard Wagner's Ring cycle.

Boba Fett

He'd probably have that "Bad Boys" song from "Cops" on a constant loop.

Jabba the Hutt

Gangsta rap. The more vulgar, violent, and sexist, the better.

Jango Fett

Salsa.

Yoda

Movie soundtracks and lots of Billy Joel and Elton John. But as the ROTS DVD Easter Egg showed, he also likes artsy hip hop acts like Roots.

Mace Windu

Funkadelic for gettin' down when nobody's looking and Yo Yo Ma for meditation. He'd probably like Isaac Hayes too ;).

Qui-Gon Jinn

Celtic music, Phish, and drinking songs.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

Drinking songs and show tunes.

Anakin Skywalker

Whatever's emo, angsty, dark, loud, and designed to give Obi-Wan a headache. Stuff like My Chemical Romance, Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, Joy Division, Bauhaus, and Metallica. Maybe Eminem.

Padmé Amidala

Dance pop like The Spice Girls, quirky dance pop like Gwen Stefani, Kylie Minogue for working out, college-rock alternative stuff like Snow Patrol or Fall Out Boy, and for her more contemplative moods, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, and The Cocteau Twins. Somehow, I think she'd be a huge Cocteau Twins fan.

Jar Jar Binks

Anything bouncy and happy like Bobby McFerrin.

Chewbacca

Reggae.

Han Solo

I think he'd a big Elvis fan. Not in the sense of wearing a bloated Elvis jumpsuit and hanging out at Graceland, but of his pre-Colonel, slimmer, hipper days. I think he'd be a big Johnny Cash fan as well.

Princess Leia

Her tastes would be pretty broad and eclectic. I can see her liking everything from The Mamas & The Papas to ABBA to The Talking Heads to Avril Lavigne to Corinne Rae Bailey. She might like Siouxsie and the Banshees and she could also like Michelle Branch. She might like meringue and new age. Bach and Blondie. Not gansta rap or heavy metal though. And not real heavy dark stuff either.

Luke Skywalker

No, I don't think he's into country despite his farmboy roots. I can see him listening to '60s pop and '80s-'90s art school/sorta nerdy rock. Maybe Led Zeppelin for rockin' out as he's driving his landspeeder.

Lando Calrissian

Barry White.

See Threepio

Show tunes and classical music.

Artoo

Artoo would have THE coolest music collection, period. He would've downloaded a gazillion tunes from all over the internet, including rarities. Like Leonard Cohen? He's got it. Patsy Cline? Got ya covered. European lounge music for a hip cocktail party? You betcha. Velvet Undeground? Check. Bootlegged live shows? No problem. He'd make the best mixes for all of his friends.

Darth Vader

The Imperial March.
