It's not the years, it's the mileage:

Actually, he looks pretty good in that shot.

Yeah, he does look pretty good. If you let your eyes go a little unfocused, he doesn't look all that much older in that pic than in "Last Crusade." Then again, I think it helps that he's wearing the signature fedora and you can't see his gray hair. Assuming they haven't dyed it, of course. ;-P

Then again, maybe I'm just being charitable because I'm so relieved that his "gal pal" didn't manage to finangle her way into a role in this flick.

*giggling* I love that Steven Spielberg took the photo, and not some PR person.

He definitely looks weathered - but then, it also looks like he's dusty for a scene, especially judging by the hat.

Guess I need to add an Indiana Jones icon to my set now!

Awesome picture. He hasn't really changed that much.

Interesting tidbit re: Spielberg and Indy...Spiel has said that "Raiders of the Lost Ark" is the only movie he's directed that he can watch all the way through, and not be haunted by bad memories of the shoot.

Since I know the shoot did have its share of difficulties, I take that to mean that Spiel had so much fun overall that he didn't care, and I'm not surprised. Though he and his good buddy Lucas had mutually influenced each others' movies for years, "Raiders" marked their first official collaboration. Plus there was Ford, making all his various wisecracks and whatnot. Both Spiel and Lucas enjoy working with Ford.

The bedwetters on the SW "fan" message boards who hate ATSWFTAESB (All The 'Star Wars' Films That Aren't ESB) would be surprised to hear that Spiel has said that Lucas is one of the very few people he'd trust enough to hand over the reins for one of his movies -- and in fact, that's exactly what he did during the filming of "Jurassic Park," when he had to leave for Poland to start filming "Schindler's List." Then again, the bedwetters would probably dismiss that as "Spielberg being nice to a friend," and sneer, "I bet the 'Jurassic Park' scenes that Lucas was in charge of are the worst scenes in the movie."

Said bedwetters have an uncanny ability to dismiss any compliments of Lucas (and they're quite fond of thinking up conspiracy theories in order to do so -- for all their pious claims about being above such things, I've seen them dream up conspiracy theories that would make Agent Mulder on "X-Files" roll his eyes), while immediately taking as gospel truth any criticisms of him.

From what I saw on the fantastic Indiana Jones documentaries on the DVD set, it looked like filming was a lot of fun.
