My copy of "Star Wars Vault," a massive book by Steve Sansweet and Pete Vilmur, arrived today from Amazon.com. Obviously, I haven't had time to sit down and read the whole thing, but I've flipped through it to see what it had.

You have to buy this. Seriously.

I know it's expensive (I got the bargain price of $53), but if you're going to buy only one SW book this year, buy this one. Do whatever it takes. Sell your bodily fluids if you have to. If you're any kind of SW fan at all, this is a must-have. It has two CDs of radio ads, rare interviews, and Princess Leia warbling away during the Holiday Special. It has reproductions of all kinds of cool stuff you can pull out to look at, including ads, invitations to various events, George Lucas's handscribbled notes, John Williams's handwritten music sheets, stickers, advertisements, newsletters, postcards, stickers, filmstrips, etc.. A lot of it is stuff I'd never seen before, such as a Queen Amidala tarot card used as an invitation to a Lucasfilm function or rare photos from the set of ANH.

I can't wait to dig through it all!

And... an actual clip of the Holiday Special in an official publication? I thought George wanted any and all records of that thing burned. ;)

Like embarassing nude pictures, the SW Holiday Special never seems to go away ;). There is mention of the special in the book (haven't read it yet) and the song is on one of the CDs.

The way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's officially released someday.

Yeah... just good timing. I got the B&N standard discount of 30% plus an extra 10% for being a member and then I had a coupon for 50% off that price on any one item. :)

I saw it yesterday at B&N They wanted $85. Yikes! I also saw the new book DeathStar. It looked like a good read.

I hope my copy of the Vault will be shipped soon. I also bought it through Amazon, I better go an check on the order.

Cool, I really enjoy reading about what is going on in Vader's head. Even more so than Luke. I especially like it when the author has Vader reflect on his former life as Anakin.

I think I am going to wait until it is out on paperback before I buy it. I have been slacking on reading offical SW fiction lately.

Have you seen or heard anything about the 2008 calendars yet? Theme? When they will be released? I have been looking online and around the local bookstores. Nobody seems to have any.

There are five 2008 calendars that I know of. One is exclusive to Wal Mart. The others include one SW saga calendar with a clone trooper on the cover, a mini calendar, a desk calendar, and an art calendar that comes with a DVD. I have the Wal Mart and the clone trooper cover one. I bought the latter at Suncoast. I haven't seen any of the others in the stores yet although friends in other states have found them. Amazon.com sells all but the Wal Mart one.

we saw this today at Costco for $50 and leafed through their demo copy. even whitney was impressed with it.
