Somehow "sex addiction" seems more humorous than say alcoholism or heroin addiction. Although I guess it was bad enough he went to seek help.

Sex addiction does sound more humorous than addiction to booze or drugs, but in reality it is no laughing matter. I remember watching a program in which a woman talked about her descent into sex addiction, and it wasn't pretty. It was bad for her, and just as bad, if not worse, for her then-teenaged son -- he was teased and harassed mercilessly at school and in the neighborhood about his mother screwing everything she touched, and he wasn't able to mount a defense, because it was the truth.

No, sex addiction is serious, I get that; all addictions are serious. The combination of having the addiction with the different roles he's played (as lp laid out for us) just makes me giggle a little bit.

I'm glad he's getting help and it totally sucks for his family.

No, I know. I wasn't responding to you so much as to the general view of sex addiction -- i.e., the "joke" that goes, "First, I want to know what a sex addict is, and second, I want to know how to become one."

In terms of Mr. Duchovny's roles, I think only the "Californication" one really qualifies as art imitating life. From what I understand, his "Red Shoe Diaries" character had exactly two sexual relationships during the series' run, and on "X-Files," Mulder may have liked porn, but that seemed to make up for a rather anemic sex life -- he was celibate except for a couple of one-night stands.

Last image I saw of them together, they were sitting on a park bench, their kids between them. Both were reading. I must say I found that shocking. I didn't know Téa could read, you see.

I'm not fond of her, in case you're wondering. And not because she married Mr. Duchovny (who I had a huge crush on for years) either. I actually disliked her quite strongly before I even knew who Mr. Duchovny was, and after I got over my crush on him, I continued to dislike her. I always thought she was a star-f**ker and a homewrecker with no conscience to speak of. So I can't say I feel too bad for any embarrassment she feels in this situation. To me, it's just a case of "what goes around, comes around."

I do, however, feel bad for the children.

Among other things, slept with the married producer of her TV show, "The Naked Truth," whose wife was pregnant at the time. He left his wife for her, then she dumped him and got him fired (not that I feel sorry for him). She then proceeded to run her sitcom into the ground because she thought TV was beneath her -- this despite the fact that one of the network head honchos was so smitten with her that he had the sitcom retooled and rewritten to her demands, repeatedly.

Her view on screwing her married producer: "I have no regrets."

And overall, I just don't like her. I don't think she's pretty, I don't think she's a good actress (comedic or dramatic), and, despite the wealth she was born into, I think she is a classless, cheap slut.
