TFN posted a link to where you can watch most of an episode of The Mike Douglas Show from July 20, 1977 featuring The Big Three stars of that crazy little blockbuster known only as "Star Wars." Richard "John Boy" Thomas co-hosts and in case you are interested, there are also interviews with baseball players Pete Rose (pre-gambling scandal) and Tom Seaver:

I'm old enough to remember The Mike Douglas Show, Merv Griffin, Dinah Shore, etc.. In fact I remember that once ANH became a hit, the merry crew appeared one way or another on all of those shows. This is the old school way of doing celebrity interviews: respectful, not too probing, and definitely no snark or pontificating on social issues/politics. The late night The Tonight Show was a bit more raucous, but Johnny Carson was never mean or obnoxious with anyone. How times have changed.
It's also somewhat interesting to see Carrie, Mark, and Harrison right at the beginning of the madness. Carrie by her parentage was the best-known of the bunch and does anyone know why Mark was wearing a Donald Duck button ;)? Harrison seems strangely more comfortable then doing interviews than he does now. Go figure.
