I'm somewhere between the first two options - I am disappointed because she's one of only a handful of profic authors who wrote Anakin worth a damn, but I'm not invested enough in the EU (even less so now) to "look forward" to other authors.

As a reader, I enjoyed her work, though the "I HATE the Jedi!" subtext, repeated so often, got a little stale. But her characters were winning and differentiated. The theme of 'honor, honor, honor' I got tired of, even as the made-up language was very interesting.

As a writer, I'm betting she felt she gave it all she had, and is ready for new pastures. Certainly the pasture she is in now is larded with money.

It's sad to lose an accomplished author, but really, I don't care about clones or Mandos, and I'm not sure she ever wants to write about anything else.

Of course, if they paid me to write for Star Wars, I would find a way to work Chiss into every story (and every scene).
