Too bad they didn't have the voices out of sync; that would have been a real Godzilla experience

Just as in the original 1956 "Godzilla," a really big bomb (detonated against the Separatists) awakens a really big beast long thought to be extinct on Malastare. I guess that's why we never saw the bomb used in the movies even though it was quite effective. The Zillo beast is the last of its kind and it proceeds to attack the native Dugs and clonetroopers. It swats Anakin's fighter out of the sky like an annoying bug. Anakin crashes yet again, costing the Republic yet another $1.7 trillion credits. Anakin discovers the hard way that the monster's armor isn't affected by lightsabers. The Dugs just want to kill the bastard and Anakin's willing to go along, but Mace Windu goes all touchy-feely and wants to save the monster because "it's an innocent life." Hellooo, that innocent life chowed on half of your troops! The standoff threatens a necessary treaty with the Dugs that will bring Malastare into the Republic and provide needed fuel.

Anakin, smart fellow that he is, comes up with a compromise. They can knock the Zillo beast out, make the Dugs think it's dead, the treaty gets signed, and everybody's happy. The Republic army's tanks fire stun bolts until they hit between the scales, sending the Zillo off to dreamland. Palpatine comes up with the idea of lugging the beast back to Coruscant so scientists can study its resilient armor. If you've seen "Jurassic Park 2," you know where this is going. Sure enough, the Zillo goes nuts on Coruscant in the next episode. Wonder if he'll climb 500 Republica with Padmé in his clutches ;).

This was a fun episode with terrific sound effects. The animation was fantastic too. As some folks on my f-list have pointed out, there's a lot of attention to detail, such as when the ion bomb goes off it not only shuts down the battle droids and every machinery in the way, it affects Anakin's robo claw as well. There's a great sequence where Artoo saves Anakin from the Zillo beast through the use of its jets. Way to go, Artoo!

Mace was on the stupid pills that day. We're not talking about a panda here. This was a dangerous threat to the Dugs and to his own men. You just let it run free? At least Anakin came up with a workable and just solution. Anakin and Mace's relationship was strained in TPM and ROTS, but here not so much. Even with this disagreement over the Zillo, there wasn't the rawr present in ROTS. I'm to assume something happens later on that breaks things down.

Random crazy prediction? The Council reassigns Ahsoka to Mace and then she gets killed.

That might sour him on Mace a little ;).

Mace taking Ahsoka away from him, in any case.

I was totally predicting that when I saw the preview for next week. Talk about classic monster movie setup! And oh, what fun graphics that would allow for!
