Ewoks are what nearly ruined the franchise. :P Nothing ruins a mature sci-fi universe more than gearing toward "the kids".

As a "kid" I loved the fact that the original movie was *not* full of gee-whiz kid stuff.

Uh...I hate to burst your bubble, but SW was always aimed at kids. Lucas has said since 1977 (NOT since 1999, as PT-haters would like us to believe) that it was aimed at children.

Yeah, I'm with may_child on this one. Sure, our perception of "kid-friendly" has changed a bit since 1977, bur Star Wars was always for the kids. It was supposed to be reminiscent of the Flash Gordon serials Lucas watched when he was young. The original generation of die-hard SW fans are now adults, true, but were very much kids when the OT was first released.

The Force: isn't ageist.

Sorry, I'm also going to have throw in my dissent ;). Adult sci-fi is fare like "Blade Runner," "Alien," or "Terminator." Adults and teens can certainly enjoy SW along with kids, but SW's core audience was always young people.

Just for that, I'm ordering TWO of those shirts.

I don't know that I'll end up ordering too many of the t-shirts (I've been weaning my collection as it is!) but promo pics like this will make for GREAT icon fodder.
