The Hollywood Reporter says the guy who wrote "Toy Story 3," "Catching Fire," and "Little Miss Sunshine" is the one working on an extended treatment for Ep. VII and might write the whole thing after all:

Sounds kinda believable. We'll see!

Toy Story 3 was a great film and he's even co-writing a Hunger Games movie. Sounds good to me if true. The only thing I don't like is having multiple writers on SW. Sometimes it works but I think a lot of Hollywood blockbusters are hampered by having a ridiculous number of writers involved with them.

That's definitely true. It's better to have a consistent voice throughout.

So Lucas didn't write the "extensive treatment"? This guy did? I've got a bad feeling about this...

I have a feeling that Lucas did the first treatment which was probably just a detailed outline and they hired this guy to see if he could flesh it out some more. So the treatment itself would now translate to about 45-50 minutes of film time, rewiting into full script form and fleshing it out will easily make it ready to be SW length.
