It's a slow day, so...
Dec. 27th, 2004 05:58 pmI'm going to blather about a variety of topics.
First of all, the horrible tidal waves in Asia. Some estimates have put the death toll as high as 24,000. It's hard to wrap your head around that big a number of casualties...it's like half of a packed football stadium, 90% of everyone who attended Celebration II, the entire student body of a large university. And people as far away as Africa have been killed. Given that many of the places affected are poor, this means there will be massive breakouts of diseases, and probably more deaths. Too horrible to think about. Just remember, if you're at the beach and all of a sudden the tide goes out really far...run like heck.
I saw this quote in an article from The Washington Times today: "A country that makes a film like 'Star Wars' deserves to rule the world." — Philip Adams, former chairman of the Australian Film Commission. Heh heh heh.
Finally, somebody made a great ROTS countdown clock for Macs. It's cool; you can change the skins to 20 different images. I could do a new one every day.
They say it's going to rain the next two days here, a lot. Gotta love those Pacific winter storms. I hope it doesn't snow too bad up in the mountains since we're driving to Las Vegas on Thursday.
ETA: Now that tidal wave death toll is up to 52,000. Unbelievable.
