Here we are on Easter Eve and my post is on one of my pet peeves! Not about SW fandom, but about LJ in general.

How many of you have seen icon posts where there's only one or two relevant icons and when you click on the cut, there are scores of icons you don't want? You have to wait until all 1500 of them load, then you have to scroll and look around for the one or two icons you wanted. Why don't these lazy icon makers just post the SW icons separately instead of packing them all in one post, then spamming every community they belong to?

Some are at least honest by listing how few relevant icons they really have. For example:

(30) Lost
(32) Anime stuff
(22) Harry Potter
(1) Star Wars
(45) POTC

Good way to make me want to click on your entry, even if I like Lost ;).

Worst of all, you see these posts over and over and over because of all the SW icon communities. Then if they have maybe one or two of Ewan, Hayden, or Natalie, you'll see them 5000x over and over because they'll spam all of the actor fan communities too. Aaaagh!

Yes! You have said a lot! I so totally agree. I mentioned some of this to the folks over at jedinews and now most of the time they are kind enough to warn for this sort of thing.

However, that still means that it's not right to do. If it's a SW icon comn, even if you are just linking to a post in your own LJ, please, for bog's sake, don't list five zillion other fandom icons in the same freaking post! I've asked some mods at some icon commns if they could police this sort of thing.

These people need to have a little consideration, and it's just not that there will be many people looking for just one fandom's icons. It's this: not everyone is on high-speed internet access! Over half the users in the USA don't have high speed. They can't afford anything but dial-up, or cable modems and DSL haven't come to their neighborhood or town or rural area yet. I've said something on occassion to some icon posters, and most of them were very nice, but had no freakin' clue that there were still people on dial-up! Some said that they would post just one fandom icons at at time, but most have forgotten. I just have to grit my teeth, click on the link, and either try to do something else on line, or else walk away from the computer for a while. I had one person be very rude to me about it, so now I don't use their icons--besides they weren't as good as I had hoped, and also I had concerns about some of their work, as it was too close to some other icon creators. I mean, really too close. :(

I've had cable for more than five years, but I remember the olden days of dial-up. Boy was that painful. I can't imagine trying to load an image heavy page with dial-up :(.

There are too many plagiarists running around.
