I'm sure you've been drooling over those Star Wars Frames volumes scheduled for publication next year. If you don't know what it is, it's a six-volume collection of books featuring George Lucas's favorite frames from each SW film published in a fancy-pants high-grade format. I knew these books were going to be expensive...after all the entire set weighs over 200 pounds! But a sharp-eyed fan on my PT fan site got a case of sticker shock after he saw on another website how much these babies are going to cost. He thought the set would cost $1000. The set starts at $4,000 and goes up to 5 grand. Here's the weirdest part. The higher the number on the edition (there is going to be only 1,138 sets worldwide), the more expensive it is. Waaah:

*collapses from sheer sticker shock*

Oh. My. *Land*! See, now, you're quite right that maybe $1000 or so for a tentative sticker price, maybe that wouldn't be too far outside o' the realm, but starting at four-grand plus....and obviously going even higher still? Okay, now, that's just cruel in a way, I can't help but think....offering us such gorgeous, provocative temptation....only to then price it waaaaaaaay the heck out of most anyone's range....even though I'm sure 'tis *totally* more than well worth the cost anyway, since each and every single one of these frames is deliberately, carefully hand-picked by The Maker himself and as I understand it he even signs a little somethin' somethin' extra in the books too, so yeah....obviously, then, plenty well worth the cost in its own right - but, oh, *what* a cost indeed....I'm not sure as anyone was expecting that, truth be told. Heck, I *really* wasn't....and I guess now that "Frames" will end up going on my lottery-win must-haves list, eh....aaahhhh, yes, if only.... *wry look*

It's right up there with the full-sized Darth Vader samurai armor.

I have to admit that I thought something like "maybe some people could buy this book instead of the stuff they would have collected for however long"... but $4,000 dollars would buy a lot of action figures.

One thing I'm also wondering is how these frames will look blown up and printed. Maybe I'm thinking most of all of the books published back when the old movies were coming out, which printed on-set photographs and photocomposites of models instead of actual film frames, presumably to avoid grainy pictures.

I don't think I've spent that much total over the past 5 or 6 years!
