What's up with that hinky question about whether "you" would attend a Celebration abroad? Yeah, I'm going to spend $6000 to fly 25 hours to Johannesburg to attend a future Celebration. I don't care if they have smaller Celebrations for fans in Japan, Australia, Europe or something, but the heart of Star Wars fandom is in the U.S. of A..

I live in New Zealand. The only way I can see myself attending anything other than our tiny local conventions is if I wasn't living in NZ.

Alas, if only I were a LotR fan...

It's kind of a long trip to just about anywhere, isn't it? Though I did see a group of fans from NZ at Celebration IV.

The link doesn't seem to be working for me, for some reason...?
...so I don't know what upset you there!?!?

We've had lots of smaller SW conventions here over the years (and in countries such as Germany) which have been of varied success. There is still a large fan base for the films here, as well as for Clone Wars, and I'm sure if there was a "Celebration Europe 2" it would do ok. Shame the last one, although it was well attended, ended up losing money and finishing off at least one company involved. I have to say that I wasn't that impressed with "CE": it seemed like a bit of a rip-off in terms of what you got for the money. Oh well, just my personal opinion. I tend to prefer general collector's shows anyway, such as "Collectormania" or "Memorabilia".

Well, I'm not so much upset at the question as I am thinking, "Huh?" It was actually a two-parter, one asking if you were willing to go abroad for a future Celebration and if so, pick from Africa, Asia, South America, etc.. Maybe they're just gaging interest in something similar to Celebration Europe or Celebration Japan instead of thinking of putting Celebration VI in Mongolia. But it could also be they would consider having the convention in God forbid, Mexico City (don't wish to go to a country where I'd be killed if anyone knew where I worked) or somewhere in Canada (with our luck, they'd chose to hold it in Yellowknife in January).
