I'm afraid I can imagine the "the only Blu-Rays I'd buy would be made from vintage film prints" brigade putting together "well, sales don't account for everything" arguments (or even just digging up the sales numbers from 2004)... but as blunt an instrument as "sales" are, it is nice to see the new sets selling. I went to some local electronics superstores on Saturday only to find the initial consignments had already sold out; however, I got a "rain check" and managed to get a set of my own for its opening weekend price on Monday. Now, I just have to acquire some way to watch the discs. For some reason, though, I seem a bit less interested in "picture quality" right now than in the promises of some visual and audio quirks from the DVDs being worked on again... and one those quirks I didn't even know about until it was pointed out in the Blu-Ray build-up.
