September 8 is 40 years to the day that the USS Enterprise went on its first t.v. mission. There's a show on T.V. Land tonight (8 p.m.) celebrating Star Trek's 40th anniversary; I read that T.V. Land will start re-running Classic Trek episodes in November.

In addition, Classic Trek will get the Special Edition treatment. This fall in syndication, you can catch HD versions of The Trouble With Tribbles and The City On The Edge Of Forever, etc. with...get this...updated visual effects! No word yet on whether there will be a Kirk Shot First movement.

If I were a big Trekkie/Trekker/whatever, I'd be hopeful that this, along with getting JJ Abrams to do the next Trek movie, is a sign somebody at Paramount has finally figured out what to do with the Trekverse.

I have no idea of what date, real or rumored, Celebration IV tickets will go on sale. The only word has been "fall." Since tickets for Celebration III went on sale in September 2004, I'd say tickets will go on sale for Celebration IV in the next few weeks. So keep an eye out for an official announcement and clear that credit card account!

Tickets for the last Celebration were like, what, $100? The convention is officially four days (Thurs.-Sun.) with one half day "free" (Wed.) for Hyperspace members, so I'm guessing tickets will run $100-125 this time.

Since Hyperspace members will get that extra time at the con and will likely get first dibs at buying tickets and hotel packages arranged by the fan club, now's a good time to join.

Speaking of hotels, just to get you all thinking, the convention center is downtown. If you came to the FIDM Dressing A Galaxy show last year, the convention center is close by. This makes downtown hotels ideal for those who want to stay as close as possible. In fact, I strongly recommend it for this event, for reasons I will explain later on...

Okay, on to oddities.

Those of you who live in La La Land or can make it there on Friday October 6, listen up! The inaugural Jules Verne Adventure Film Festival & Expositions, at least in the U.S., will feature an evening honoring anthropologist/chimp expert Jane Goodall, Harrison Ford, and George Lucas at the Shrine Auditorium. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster and they run from $10 up to $100. If it were only on a Saturday...

Next up is this pic posted on the SDSWS board of Jedi squirrel in action:

Finally, someone mixed in Darth Vader's best trash talking lines with the Black Knight scene from one of my favorite comedies of all time, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail:"
